How to Put Arc Pins on a Class B Uniform
If you or someone you know is in the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps -- or JROTC -- you will probably see arcs on cadets' uniforms. Arcs are decorative pins that signify activities or events the wearer has taken part in. They are worn with both Class A and Class B uniforms, on the right breast pocket. When putting on arc pins, it's important to be as precise as possible, to fit the military's exacting standards.

1
Lay your uniform jacket out on a flat surface such as a table or ironing board. Smooth out any wrinkles. Lay all your arc pins out next to the uniform, in the order you are going to wear them.
-
2
Remove the back from the pin you want to attach first, by pressing the two fingerholds together and drawing the back slowly off. If the back catches on grooves in the pin, move it gently back and forth until it comes loose.

3
Center the arc pin between the two sides of the right breast pocket. For greater precision, lay a ruler horizontally along the pocket, to find the center.
-
4
Push the arc pin through the pocket at this center, then reach into the pocket with your other hand, and reattach the back of the pin.
-
5
Attach any other arc pins to the vertical center of the pocket in the same way, leaving 1/8 inch of space between pins.
