How to Make a Plant Wreath
A festive wreath made with foliage and other plants is an attractive addition to your home that can show off your crafty side. If you think wreaths are primarily for the holiday season, think again. Make a wreath for every season using plants and foliage in bloom that reflects the current time of year. Making the wreath is a simple process that takes an eye for organization, so incorporate your family on the project. They can give helpful feedback and help you create a lasting decoration for your home.

1
Place a doughnut-shaped piece of foam on a flat surface. Screw a “J” shaped hook into the top side of the foam circle so you can hang it on the door.
-
2
Insert the stiff stems of fake foliage (real plants wane quickly, which will leave your wreath looking unattractive) into the foam circle. Place a drop of hot glue on each stem to secure it in place. Position the leaves of the foliage so they all face the same direction, making a circular base for your wreath.

3
Fluff the leaves so they obscure the foam base in its entirety. The foam base is secure foothold for your plants, but it isn’t very attractive to look at. Obscuring it with leaves will make admirers of the wreath none the wiser.

4
Slide small flowers, such as cherry blossoms, into the side of the wreath so they create an explosive frame for the wreath. Use baby breath flowers that are still on the branch. The branch sticks into the foam while the blossoms frame the sides.
-
5
Slide flowers between the leaves on the front of the wreath. Position them around the front at random locations. Use flowers that reflect the colors of the season (for example, deep reds for winter months and bright yellows for spring).

Tips & Warnings
If you prefer, use a wicker base instead of foam. A woven wood base, when displayed properly, adds to the decorative appeal of the wreath.
