How to Make Candle Hangings
Candle hangings create an ambient atmosphere in an outdoor or indoor setting. Making candle hangings yourself gives you complete control over the mood you want to set. Things You'll Need
- Spool of 22-gauge wire
- Wire cutters
- Glass jar
- Needle-nose pliers
- Tea light or larger candle to fill the jar

Measure out how much wire you need to suspend the candle at the desired height. Add an additional 5 to 6 inches to your initial measurement. Cut the wire with wire cutters. Measure out a second piece of the same length.

Tightly wrap one end of the first wire around the base of the jar's mouth until the short end of the wire intersects the long end. Coil the short and long ends of the wire together with a pair of needle-nose pliers to secure and tighten the wire around the jar. Attach the second wire length on the opposite side of the jar so it will hang evenly.

Bring the ends of the two wires together over the the mouth of the jar. Double check that the jar will hang evenly, making adjustments if necessary. Make a loop with the two ends, roughly the size of a dime. Twist the wires around each other with the pliers to secure the loop.

Trim the excess wire with a pair of wire cutters. Insert a tea candle or a larger candle to fill the jar. Suspend the jar by the loop.

Tips & Warnings
Spray paint the jar with spray paint graded for glass to give the candle hanging a funky aesthetic.
Add beads or other embellishments to the excess wire instead of cutting it away to decorate the hanging. Add beads to the wire suspending the jar to make it look more appealing.
Tie a ribbon around the mouth of the jar to hide the wire to create a strea lined look.
Add more wire supports if using a very large jar and candle by doubling or tripling the amount of wire used.
