How to Make a Book Cover With a Vinyl Table Cloth

Recyle a vinyl table cloth as a book cover.

There are many ways to recycle an old vinyl table cloth. One way that is also useful is as a book cover for your children's school books. Not only does a vinyl table cloth book cover protect a book, but it's sturdy enough to use each year for books of the same size. A table cloth is large enough that you can make multiple book covers just from one sheet.

Things You'll Need

• Scissors
• Vinyl table cloth
• Ruler
• Needle and thread

Instructions

1. Flip the vinyl table cloth over so the vinyl is facing the table you are working on. Lay the book down on the table cloth, completely open. Measure 5 inches longer on each side of the book and 1 inch longer at the height of the book.

2. Cut the cover to these measurements. Place the book back on the table cloth. Fold each side over to create a flap. Pull just tight enough so there is room to bend the book closed. Pin in place.

3. Sew the flap closed at the top and the bottom of the table cloth. Slide the book in and your vinyl table cloth book cover is complete.
