How to Make Glitter Strands in Hair
Hair tinsel is a popular trend that involves fastening strands of glitter to the hair to add shine and gloss. While it is possible to spray glitter into your hair or comb it in, hair tinsel is much longer lasting – in fact, hair tinsel has been professed to last until the hair it is attached to grows out or falls out. Many hair salons will install hair tinsel for you, but this is not necessary. Though it might be helpful to have the help of a friend, you can add glitter to your hair in a manner of minutes. Fold one strand of hair tinsel. Fold it in half if your hair is short, or fold it so one part of it is shorter than the other if your hair is long.

Grab a single strand of hair in the location where you want to add the tinsel and wrap the folded piece of tinsel around the base of it. Draw the two ends of the tinsel through the loop, and pull it tight against the scalp. You have formed a slipknot.

Hold the two strands of tinsel in one hand and the strand of hair in the other hand, and tie an overhand knot tightly against the scalp. Let go of the hair strand.

Tie an overhand knot with the two strands of tinsel and pull it tight.

Repeat with the other strands of tinsel, placing them wherever you'd like on your head.

Tips & Warnings
Hair with tinsel in it can be brushed, blow-dried and curled as normal. Hair tinsel is heat-resistant.
Be careful not to break the strand of hair during the process of attaching the hair tinsel.
