How to Make a Little Cat Out of Clay
Make a little cat out of clay by observing the characteristics of a real cat. Choose air-dry clay for this craft since it hardens without baking in a kiln. Keep the clay moist by adding a few drops of water and by storing it in a plastic bag. You want clay that is soft to the touch but not sticky. If it becomes too wet, dry the clay out in your room for about an hour.

1
Roll out a ball that is 1 inch thick for the cat's body. Roll another ball that is half the size for the cat's head.
-
2
Break the top third off of a toothpick. Press half of it into the ball for the cat's body and then push the cat's head onto the other half of the broken toothpick. This helps secure the two parts together for a reclining cat pose.

3
Roll out a tail that is 1/4 inch thick and roughly 1 1/2 inch long. Press it into the cat's body on the opposite end of the head. Wind the tail so it wraps around the cat's body.

Form two triangular shapes for the cat's ears. Push them into the top of the cat's head on either side. Roll out three tiny balls and press them flat for the cat's nose and cheeks. Press the nose into the center of the face, and form the cheeks just below the nose, side by side.

Press two small holes for the cat's eyes with the other piece of toothpick. Press small whisker holes into the cheeks and roll four balls that are about 1/4 inch thick for feet. Push the feet into the sides of the body. Two are towards the front and two feet are at the back of the body.
