Instructions

    • 1

Cut four pieces of string that are each one yard long. Gather the strings together and match the ends. Make a slipknot towards the matched end so it has a loop. The knot must be very tight so it doesn't come loose. This prevents the bracelet from unraveling. Cut any string hanging from the knot.

    • 2

Place a piece of tape over the loop and place the tape on a hard surface. This stops the string from moving and keeps the braid tight. Line your strings up in a row, and mentally label them 1, 2, 3, and 4. It may be helpful to put tape on the bottoms of the strings with actual numbers. If each string is a different color, make yourself a map.

    • 3

Grab string 1 and lift it over string 2. Pick up string 4 and put it over string 3. Grab string 4 and put it over string 1. Continue this pattern until you are about half way through your bracelet. Test it on your wrist to be sure.

    • 4

Take two strings and tie a small tight knot where the last braiding ends. Take the other two strings and do the same. Slide five beads over the gathered strings on each set. Tie another knot at the ends of last beads added.

    • 5

Repeat Step 3 until the bracelet is finished. Make another slipknot at the end of the bracelet with a loop. Use the pliers to open two jump rings. Put the jump rings through the spring ring clasps. Put the jump rings through the leather loops on each end and close tightly with the pliers.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use thin leather. When purchasing your leather string, bring one of your beads and test to see if the leather slides through the bead easily.
