How to Mod a Marshmallow Shooter to Shoot Nerf Darts
A marshmallow shooter uses compressed air to shoot a marshmallow from the barrel. To adapt the marshmallow shooter to fire Nerf-brand soft darts, you must modify the barrel to accommodate the dart. You'll need some basic tools, plus supplies from a hardware store. No special equipment is needed.
Things You'll Need
- Tape measure
- 2 pieces of PVC pipe
- Labels
- Bonding glue

1
Measure the diameter of the barrel of the marshmallow shooter. Measure the barrel's length. Purchase a piece of PVC pipe that is half the length of the barrel and 1/2-inch less in diameter. Label this Pipe 1 with a piece of masking tape and a pen.

2
Purchase a second piece of PVC pipe that is half the length of Pipe 1 and 1/4-inch less in diameter. Label this Pipe 2.

3
Place Pipe 1 horizontally on a table. Insert Pipe 2 into the end of Pipe 1, leaving an inch of Pipe 2 sticking out. Run a line of bonding glue around the exposed area of Pipe 2 where it meets Pipe 1. Let the glue set overnight. Run a line of silicone sealant paste around the exposed area of Pipe 2 in the same manner as you did with the glue. Let the paste set for three hours.

4
Insert the free end of Pipe 1 into the barrel of the marshmallow shooter. Push the pipe all the way into the barrel until only the glued end of the Pipe 2 is sticking out from the tip. Run a bead of bonding glue around the exposed area of Pipe 2 where it meets the barrel. Let the glue set overnight.

Test out your adapted marshmallow shooter. Go outside and pick a safe target, such as a bush or tree. Hold the marshmallow shooter so that the barrel is pointing up. Place a Nerf-brand dart, pointed end up, into the open mouth of the barrel. Aim the barrel at the target and fire the adapted marhsmallow shooter.
