How to Make a Homemade Book With Ribbon Binding

If you are making a book as a gift for a friend or family member, the gift does not have to be costly when it comes to binding. Instead of taking the item to a printing shop for binding, use ribbon from around your home to keep the pages attached. Use crafting ribbon instead of wrapping ribbon, as it is stronger and will not break as easily. Do not glue the ends if you wish to add additional pages in the future.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your word processor of choice. Type the information you wish to include in your book. Add photos and images if desired. Print all pages on card stock so the pages are sturdy.

    • 2

Print your name and the title of the book on a thick piece of card stock or cardboard.

    • 3

Mark every two inches along one side of the paper where you wish to bind the book with a pencil. Hole punch on every marking on just the top sheet.

    • 4

Stack five pages together. Punch through the hole to line up the remaining pages. Stack all pages in one pile when each sheet is punched through.

    • 5

Push ribbon through the hole, and then snake it through to the next hole. Tie in the back like a ribbon on a gift. If you prefer, use a small ribbon for each hole and tie.
