How to Clean a Bridal Lace Headband
Brides carry something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue for good luck on their wedding day. Many families have heirloom bridal accessories that are handed down from one generation to the next to supply brides with something old. If the "something old" you've been given for your big day is a lace accessory, such as a headband, it may have yellowed with age if it was not stored in an airtight environment. You can clean a vintage lace headband by hand without taking it to a dry cleaner. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Place one towel on a flat surface. Place the bridal lace headband flat on the towel.
-
2
Place another towel on top of the headband so that it is sandwiched between the two towels.
-
-
3
Close the drain in your bathtub. Run warm water into the tub and add laundry detergent with a stain lifter to the water according to the package directions. Fill the tub about 4 inches deeper than the height of your headband sandwich. Swish the water around with your hand to melt the detergent.
-
4
Grasp both sides of the towels and slowly lower them into the bath tub, making certain that the towels saturate and sit on the bottom of the tub.
-
5
Check the progress of the headband every 20 to 30 minutes up to two hours for cleanliness and whiteness.
-
6
Let the water drain out of the tub and flush the headband inside of the towels with ample amounts of cool water from the tub.
-
7
Remove the headband and place it on a flat surface on a dry towel. Pat it dry with an additional towel. Let the headband dry completely or hang it outside on a clothes line to dry.

Tips & Warnings
Laundry detergents with an added stain lifter are gentler on lace than bleach.
After wearing the lace headband, place it flat inside of a plastic baggie and store it in a dry area to keep it clean.
Never wring water out of lace by twisting it. This action can tear the headband.
