How to Glue Raffia
Raffia adds a natural element to craft projects, from homemade baskets to greeting cards. The thin, paper-like pieces of raffia can be easily tied but, in some cases, it works better for individual projects to be glued. Ordinary white glue does not have enough strength to hold raffia, but using proper technique and a stronger glue will hold raffia in its place for any of your projects.

1
Set your to glue gun to high heat, unless you are gluing the raffia to a surface that will melt, such as foam, wax or soft plastic. If the surface will melt, set the heat to low.
-
2
Apply the hot glue to the surface of the object. Apply a long bead if you are attaching an entire strip of raffia or only a dot if you are attaching the back of a raffia bow.

3
Hold the raffia with tweezers and press it into the glue with the end of a craft stick. This will prevent burns from the hot glue. Allow the glue to cool and dry for about 10 minutes.
