How to Make a Center Piece for a Table for a Dance Party

How to Make a Center Piece for a Table for a Dance Party thumbnail
Throw a dance party your friends will talk about for weeks to come.

Create centerpieces that reflect the nature of the dance party you are throwing. Dance party themes can include swing dance, disco or line dance parties, though many dance parties are inspired by smoky dance clubs where glitter and glow sticks rule, and where a wider variety of music is featured. No dance party is complete without decorations, including centerpieces, so create glow stick bouquets or homages to another dance era. Give the centerpieces away as favors at the end of the night, if desired.

Instructions

  1. Disco Theme

    • 1

Fill a clear, platform high-heeled shoe with all things glittery: sequins, glitter dust, small stones you painted in glitter glue, faux jewels and anything else that sparkles or has a 70s disco vibe to it. In terms of the shoe itself, think of the clear platforms disco lovers used to wear that featured live fish in the heel.

    • 2

Bend the tops of three to five pieces of craft wire into small circles for holding pieces of paper/photos. Cover the wire in glitter glue and allow it to dry for about 15 minutes. Stick the wire pieces into the shoe, as the items in the shoe should be able to hold up the wire without further assistance.

    • 3

Place small pictures in the bent tops of the craft wire. Use disco images, images of friends and family and even photos of friends and family dressed up in their best 70s disco outfits.

    • 4

Sprinkle glitter dust around the shoe once it is placed on the table to complete the centerpiece.

    Rave Theme

    • 5

Fill the bottom of a rounded clear glass vase with sequins and glitter dust. Fill about 1/3 of the vase full of these items.

    • 6

Place assorted standard-size glow sticks in the vase, bouquet style. Use the same color for all the glow sticks, or use a few different color varieties if possible.

    • 7

Place a few glow-in-the-dark necklaces and bracelets around the vase to complete the centerpiece.

Tips & Warnings

  • Fill your "rave centerpiece" vase with glow-in-the-dark jewelry instead of sequins and glitter if desired, or combine all three.
