Use toilet seat covers to make your own blotting paper.

Blotting papers are commonly employed to absorb excess oil on the face. They are used by pressing the paper onto your skin; as the blotting paper absorbs oil, it turns from colored, or white, to clear. While many brands of blotting paper are sold in beauty supply stores today, they are often packaged in colorful, decorative boxes and can be quite expensive. Making your own blotting paper at home is simple, cost-efficient and requires few materials. Store your homemade blotting papers in a decorative tin or compact. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Clean your chosen container, such as an empty compact or small, square tin with soap and water. Use a cloth to dry the container thoroughly.

    • 2

Use a ruler to measure the length and width of the inside of your container. This is the size you will need to cut your blotting papers.

    • 3

Cut toilet seat covers or sheets of tissue paper according to the measurements of the container. The tissue paper should be the type that is used in craft projects and gift bags.

    • 4

Continue cutting out your blotting papers until you have a small stack that will fit into your container while allowing it to close securely.

    • 5

Store your homemade blotting papers in your container. Use whenever you need to absorb excess skin oils without disturbing your make-up, or adding more product.

Tips & Warnings

  • Handle the toilet seat covers or tissue paper gently to avoid transferring oils from your fingers.
