1
Select a wide decorative ribbon from which to hang your stockings on. Choose a ribbon in a traditional Christmas color, such as red or green, or get creative and choose an unexpected color, such as hot pink, teal or orange.

2
Suspend the stocking on a wall by threading the stockings onto the ribbon. Push a push pin through each of the ends of the ribbon and push the pins into the wall. Once the ribbon is hung, spread the stockings out along the ribbon and lay them flat against the wall.

Display the stockings on a banister by tying one of the ends of the ribbon on the end of a banister. Loop the ribbon one or two times around the top of the banister. Thread a stocking onto the ribbon, allowing it to hang underneath the banister. Loop the ribbon one or two more times down the banister. Thread another stocking onto the ribbon, allowing it to hang underneath the banister. Continue this process until all of the stockings are hung. Tie the end of the ribbon onto the banister.

Lean an old ladder against a wall to create an unexpected way to hang stockings. Tie one of the ends of the ribbon around one of the lower steps of the ladder. Thread the loop of a stocking onto the ribbon and loop the ribbon around the side of the ladder. Position the stocking so that it hangs flat against the steps of the ladder. Pull the ribbon across the ladder to the opposite side, thread the loop of a stocking onto the ribbon and loop the ribbon around the side of the ladder. Continue this process until all of the stockings are displayed. Tie the end of the ribbon around one of the upper steps of the ladder.
