Instructions

    • 1

Cut pieces of unspun wool twice the length that you want the finished dreadlocks to be. Unspun wool comes in pieces that create really thick dreadlocks, so split the pieces in half after you have cut them to the desired length for normal-sized dreads.

    • 2

Mix together olive or powdered soap and hot water in your spray bottle. A small amount of soap is enough, so only use a small piece of olive soap or a small handful of powdered soap and shake to mix well.

    • 3

Lay your piece of wool onto a towel on a flat surface. Spray with the soap and water mixture until the wool is completely saturated. Use your hands to roll the piece of wool back and forth, creating a knitted felt. The wool will begin to stick together tightly. Allow to dry. Repeat with other pieces of wool until you have the desired amount of dreadlocks.

    • 4

Repeat the spraying process with each piece of felted wool one or two more times depending on the tightness of the dreadlock that you desire. Allow to dry.

    • 5

Attach the dreadlock to the hair by folding it in half and using a bobby pin to secure it to the scalp in the middle. Alternatively, fold the dreadlock around a ponytail holder and create a ponytail with dreadlocks in it.
