Sandals are meant to be comfortable, casual shoes. However, if your sandals fit tightly, the comfort is lost. Too-tight sandals can be the result of a number of factors. Inconsistency of size between brands or even the same brand can result in a too-tight sandal. If your feet expand in warm temperatures, this can also cause the sandal to fit snugly. There are a few tricks you can employ to help make a sandal fit looser for an overall better fit. However, take care not to loosen the sandal too much or you could get blisters from chafing. Inspect the sandals to note any area where you can loosen the straps. Check for extra holes on the strap to use instead of the holes that were originally used with the sandal.

Add additional holes to help the sandals fit looser by tapping a hole through the strap with a nail and hammer.

Pull up on any straps that feel too tight. In some cases, the straps may be connected under the shoe, and pulling on the strap will give extra length to the straps.

Put on several pairs of socks. Put the sandals back on. Heat the sandals with a warm hairdryer to help them expand to the new size. When you put the sandals back on without socks, they should fit loosely enough for comfort.
