How to Fix the Imperfections in a Pool Table Slate
Billiards was created during the 15th century, in Europe, by evolving the lawn game croquet. Moving the game indoors allowed it to be played all year long. A pool table is built using a thick slate surface to assure the balls roll perfectly. Because this surface is made from a natural material, it can become scratched or dented if mishandled. Minor imperfections can be corrected using wax and a little patience.
Instructions

1
Heat up the scratch or dent with the propane torch. This helps pull the wax into the imperfection.
-
2
Run the wax along the imperfection while melting it with the torch.

-
3
Allow the wax to harden for about one minute. Scrape off the extra wax with a putty knife.
-
4
Scrape the blade from a razor over the scratch, holding it at 35 degrees to the table's surface. This smoothens the wax even more.

Don't allow the wax to harden before smoothing it. Once it hardens, it's difficult to work with.
Don't burn your hands with the propane torch.
