How to Put Curtains on a Door

Glass-paneled doors are attractive but offer little privacy. Installing curtains over the door will help remedy this issue. A sheer curtain will allow you to see out, without allowing visitors to see in unless the interior is lit. If you prefer more complete coverage, choose a curtain made of heavier fabric. Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length of the space you want to cover with a curtain. Verify that the curtain's top and bottom hems are long enough to reach this length.

    • 2

Measure and mark the spot where each bracket will be installed. Make sure each spot is an equal distance away from the glass pane but not too wide for the curtain. Use a level to check that the marks are aligned.

    • 3

Make pilot holes in the marked spots with either a Philips screwdriver or an electrical drill. Place a bracket flat against the door in the marked spot. Make sure the hook on each bracket is facing up. Insert the screw into the pilot hole and screw it into place.

    • 4

Repeat the process to secure the other three brackets.

    • 5

Insert the curtain rods into the top and bottom hems of the curtain.

    • 6

Set the top and bottom rods into the brackets.
