How to Disable Apache FrontPage

If your Apache Web server software is configured properly, it supports the use of FrontPage extensions in websites. If you don't use FrontPage extensions in your Web design work, they will consume resources without providing you any benefit. You can disable FrontPage extensions in Apache by editing the Apache configuration file.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to the Linux Apache server. Type "vim /etc/apache2/apache.conf" and press Enter to open the Apache configuration file.

    • 2

Scroll through the configuration file until you find the "#FrontPageExt=0" line. Remove the "#" from the front of the line.

    • 3

Press the Esc key. Type "ZZ" to save and exit the file, completing the procedure.
