How to Add a Firewall to a Dynex Router

The Dynex four-port Ethernet router includes a hardware firewall that you can turn on and off within the Dynex's Web-based configuration panel. The router's hardware firewall restricts the traffic coming in and out of the wired network, protecting your networked computers from unauthorized Web traffic and intrusion. You can use the hardware firewall in conjunction with a software firewall, such as Windows Firewall.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your Web browser on your computer and type "192.168.1.1" in your address bar. Press "Enter." Type "admin" for your username and password and click "OK." If you changed your Dynex router login information during the initial router setup, use your current username and password.

Click "Security" in the configuration window's sidebar.

    • 3

      Click the "Firewall" sub menu.

    • 4

Check the box labeled "Enable Firewall." This option enables your router's hardware firewall. You can adjust filtering options by enabling IP address filtering, domain filtering or MAC address filtering if you'd prefer fine-tune control over your firewall.
