Troubleshooting an LG Optimus Hotspot

Troubleshoot connectivity issues between your devices and the LG Optimus S.

The LG Optimus S is the solution to your problem when you're on the go and don't have access to a nearby wireless connection, as its data network turns into a portable Wi-Fi hotspot for your wireless-enabled devices. Eight devices can simultaneously connect to your mobile phone through the phone's tethering feature, and it supports computers, tablets and other mobile devices. If you are unable to connect your alternative devices to the Optimus's hotspot, you can troubleshoot the issue by accessing the phone's tethering configuration settings. If connectivity issues persist, you may not have tethering included in your phone's data package and will need to contact your mobile provider to add the feature.

Instructions

1. Open the Wi-Fi hotspot settings by pushing "Home" and "Applications" on the front of the phone. Touch "Settings," "Wireless & networks" and "Portable hotspot." Touch "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot" to ensure the hotspot is active. It displays a green checkmark when it is on.

2. Tap "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings" from the Portable Hotspot menu, and touch "Network SSID" to check that the name of the hotspot matches the network the alternate devices are connected to.

3. Touch "Security" and touch "WPAP2 PSK" to protect your hotspot with a passkey. Type a passkey and tap "Save" to update the hotspot. Open the Wi-Fi/network manager on your electronic device and enter the new password to connect to the Optimus's hotspot.

4. Press "Home" and "Applications" on the front of the Optimus and tap "Settings," "About phone" and "System updates" to update your phone's software. Your phone's software may be outdated and interfering with the phone's hotspot feature.
