How to Remove the Google Search Redirect to Intelius

When a virus infects your computer, it may cause your browser and search engine to automatically redirect to unwanted Web pages. You likely have a virus if every search you conduct in Google is redirected to the Intelius website. Windows comes with a preinstalled program called Windows Defender that is capable of removing the files that cause the Google search redirect to Intelius.

Instructions

    • 1

Exit out of your Web browser.

    • 2

Click the Windows orb located in the bottom left of your screen to launch the Start menu.

    • 3

Type “Windows Defender” in the Search field of the Start menu and press “Enter.” The Windows Defender program launches.

    • 4

Click “Scan” from the top menu and then select “Full Scan.” Windows Defender scans your entire computer for security threats, including files infected with the virus that causes the Intelius redirect. Corrupted files are quarantined and then removed. This process could take up to several hours to complete depending on how badly your computer is infected.

    • 5

Click the “X” located in the upper right corner of the Windows Defender window to close the program after the Intelius virus files have been removed.
