How to Sync Views on YouTube

At times, you may be watching a YouTube video on two devices and wish the playback view was synced down to the exact second. Playing YouTube videos on two different screens or devices is sometimes necessary, especially if you and your friends want to see the same video simultaneously. YouTube doesn't provide an automatic sync process between multiple devices, so you will have to sync the playback views manually.

Instructions

    • 1

Load the YouTube video on one of your devices, then immediately hit the "Pause" button to stop it.

    • 2

Go to your second device and load the same YouTube video on the screen. Press the "Pause" button right as the video is beginning to play.

    • 3

Check the video on both devices and make sure the time counter is set to the same second, preferably at "0:00" for best results. Also, let the video load at least half way on both devices, so there is no playback problems once the video starts.

    • 4

Press the "Play" button for the video on both devices. If it helps, have one of your friends control one device while you control the other. In that case, do a simple countdown from three to zero, hitting the "Play" at the zero mark. The YouTube video is now in sync on both devices, including the moving images and audio soundtrack.
