How to Get Rid of Calcium and Lime Deposit Around Sinks
Calcium and lime deposits around the sink are a common problem in homes with hard water. When tap water contains a high amount of minerals, these minerals will begin to build up on surfaces subjected to the tap water. The calcium and lime deposits will begin to turn the sink into a dull and dingy eyesore with a layer of white residue. Normal bathroom cleaners do little if anything to cut through the calcium and lime. Instead, use common items found in many kitchens. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
-
White Vinegar
-
1
Pour white vinegar into a small bucket. Do not dilute the vinegar--use it at full strength.
-
2
Scrub the calcium and lime vigorously with a sponge saturated with the vinegar.
-
-
3
Soak several paper towels in the white vinegar. Cover hard-to-remove deposits with the vinegar-soaked paper towels. Leave the paper towels on the surface for several hours.
-
4
Discard the paper towels and scrub the surface clean with the sponge dampened in vinegar. Wipe the vinegar off with a cloth and let dry.
Baking Soda
-
5
Hold a clean sponge under warm running water until saturated. Wring out the excess water, leaving the sponge damp.
-
6
Sprinkle a hefty amount of baking soda over the damp sponge. Scrub the calcium and lime vigorously with the baking soda-covered sponge for several seconds.
-
7
Wipe the baking soda residue off the surface with damp paper towels. Repeat the process until you have removed the lime scale.
