How to Make Your Own Bowl Out of Clay
Hand-made clay bowls are quick and easy pottery projects that are usable for food and decorative purposes. Clay bowl construction is appropriate for all ages and makes a great personal gift, school art project or for the simple enjoyment of creating a dish with your hands.

Roll the clay into a spherical shape; the smoother and more symmetrical the better.

Use your thumbs to begin hollowing out the center by compressing the clay. Smooth the central depression into a smooth hemi-spherical shape; a bowl shape.

Turn the bowl over and massage the bottom with your thumbs to flatten it out. This gives the bowl a stable surface to rest upon.

Allow the clay to air dry completely. This can typically take up to 24 hours.

Tips & Warnings
You can decorate your bowl with acrylic paint to add color and creative flair to your piece.
If you plan to use your bowl with food, make sure the clay and paint is non-toxic.
