How to Make a Mosaic on Clear Glass
Adding mosaic tiles to clear glass can create beautiful stained-glass effects without the expense. Make your own colored glass mosaic tiles or purchase them from an art supply store and glue them onto windowpanes or any other glass panels. Place the finished mosaic in an east or south-facing location to catch the sun and spread colored light throughout a room or garden.

- Paper towels
- Utility knife
- Markers

- Tile adhesive
- Tile grout

Clean the clear glass surface and the colored glass with a commercial glass cleaner and paper towels.

Score the glass surface with a utility knife to create a rough surface to promote tile adhesion.

Draw your desired mosaic arrangement directly onto the glass, using markers to color code the tile placement.

Cut colored glass with a glass cutting tool to make tile shapes. Alternatively, strike the glass gently with a hammer to make irregularly shaped broken tiles. Skip this step if you purchased pre-made tiles.

Spread a thin layer of tile adhesive on a small area of the clear glass surface, using a putty knife. Firmly press the tiles in place. Repeat this process until the glass is completely covered with mosaic tiles. Allow the adhesive to dry thoroughly before adding grout.

Apply tile grout between the mosaic tiles’ cracks with a grout float.
