You can make a Halloween bat from a piece of cardboard.

A Halloween bat decoration can be used to turn your house into a spooky space for the holiday. Using a sheet of leftover cardboard, you can make the bat prop and hang it from the ceiling, as if the bat was flying. You can even make a series of these bat props and hang them in groups to look like a whole flock of bats are flapping through your house. Consider getting kids involved with the project for a fun Halloween activity.

Instructions

    • 1

Find a bat stencil at a craft store. Make one yourself if you can't find one, by tracing the outline of a bat onto a piece of stiff card stock, then cutting out the shape.

    • 2

Lay the stencil on top of a piece of cardboard and trace the shape onto the cardboard, using a pencil. Cut out the traced image.

    • 3

Lay the cardboard bat on a sheet of newspaper and coat with black spray paint. Let dry, then flip the bat over and paint the other side. Let dry.

    • 4

Punch a hole from the bat's head using a hole punch or a sharp pencil. Tie a 3-foot piece of string from the hole and use the string to hang from the ceiling. Secure the end of the string to the ceiling using clear tape.
