How to Use PMC Veneer Sheets
Precious metal clay (PMC) veneer paste was created by Jay Humphreys to make PMC veneer sheets. A flexible PMC veneer sheet is created by mixing the paste with bits of precious metal clay and pouring the mixture onto a textured surface. These textured PMC veneer sheets can be used alone and shaped into different objects, or attached to another piece of PMC using slip, then fired to create a piece of jewelry, hair accessory or ornament.
Things You'll Need

1
Mix water and crumbs of precious metal clay in a container to make your slip. Slip is the "glue" to adhere the veneer sheets to each other, or the piece of metal clay you want to attach the textured veneer sheet to.
-
2
Place the molded precious metal clay piece you plan to attach the veneer sheet to on your kiln stone, tray or tool you use to insert pieces into your kiln.
-
-
3
Cut the veneer sheet with scissors to the size and shape you desire. Store any extra in a zipped plastic storage bag for future use. As long as it is stored properly, PMC veneer sheet stays flexible indefinitely.
-
4
Brush the back of the cut veneer sheet, and the top of the piece you are applying it to, with slip. Do not glob it on; a thin coat should be enough to stick the pieces together.
-
5
Place the piece of PMC veneer sheet on the piece of precious metal clay and gently adjust as necessary. Do not press down when putting the two pieces together, as this distorts your design and possibly collapses the piece of PMC.
-
6
Fire the precious metal piece, per the manufacturer's instructions. Temperature and times vary per the type of kiln and kind of precious metal clay you use.
