How to Create a Circular Hockey Logo
One of the easiest ways to create recognition for a sports team, product or organization is through a logo; a graphical representation generates familiarity. Creating a logo with a hockey theme doesn’t have to feel like taking a slapshot to the thigh or getting knocked into the boards – take advantage of the puck-like shapes included with Windows Paint to get started designing logos quickly. Create a circular hockey logo that will glide across your uniforms, website and materials and score a hat-trick with your potential players, other fans and shoppers.

1
Start Windows Paint. Click the drop-down icon in the top-left section of the screen and choose “Properties.” Enter dimensions for the logo, such as “4” in both the “Width” and “Height” boxes. Click “Inches” under the “Units” section. Click the “OK” button to resize the Paint canvas.
-
2
Review the ribbon at the top of the workspace. Note the “Color 1” box shows black. Click the “Color 2” button. Click the black square in the “Colors” section so black appears in both boxes.
-
-
3
Click the “Fill” menu and select “Solid color.” Click the circle shape in the “Shapes” section of the ribbon. Position the cursor in the top-left corner of the canvas, click and drag down to the bottom right. Don’t overlap onto the blue Paint work area; stay on the canvas. Release the cursor and you have a circular, puck-like base for your logo.
-
4
Click off the puck. Click each of the two “Color” boxes and select the white colored square. Click the circle shape again and draw another circle in the middle of the first. This may make your logo take on a donut or “O”-like appearance, but you’ll have it back to puck shape in a few more steps. Click off the newly added center of the logo.
-
5
Choose a color that matches the hockey team’s main color theme. Click the “A” icon in the “Tools” section. Click into the center of the white portion of the logo. Type the main logo information, such as “2011 Ice Champions” or “Skates Sharpened Superbly by Sharon.”
-
6
Add additional information such as a tagline or website address, if desired. Change colors to the team or business’ other main shade before typing the extra text, if desired.
-
7
Click the white or light gray colored square so it appears in the “Color 1” box. Click the “Brushes” button on the ribbon and choose the “Airbrush” button. Click the “Size” button on the ribbon and select the thinnest/top line.
-
8
Click and drag the cursor around the edge where the white circle meets the black, depositing ice flakes. The more you click and drag back and forth over a certain area, the more “ice” you add. Work your way around the circle so the white edge is less defined or confine your icing to just one arc of the circle’s diameter.
-
9
Click the Paint button. Click “Save As.” Pull down the “Save as type” menu and choose GIF or PNG to ensure the logo maintains a transparent background so you can put it on anything. Type a name in the “File name” box and click the “Save” button.
