How to Sew a Good Bra in a Swimsuit

One piece swimsuits may not provide enough support for large busted women.

While the right bust support can slim your appearance, take pressure off the muscles in your back and improve posture. However, a good bust support can be difficult to find in a swimsuit. The modern swimsuit is often designed with more fashion than functionality in mind. Bigger busted women can find themselves feeling uncomfortable. Fortunately, it is possible to sew a supportive bra into your swimsuit to provide you with both the style and the support you need.

Things You'll Need

• Sewing pins
• Sewing scissors
• Bra
• Sewing Machine

Instructions

1. Purchase a good bra from your local lingerie retailer in a color and style that will blend well with your swimsuit.

2. Put the bra on. Put your swimsuit on and position it to cover the bra underneath.

3. Pin the bra to the swimsuit where the shoulder strap of the swimsuit meets the cup on the left and right side with a sewing pin. Undo the bra and take your swimsuit off.

4. Turn the swimsuit inside out and place on a flat surface in front of you.

5. Pin the outside edges of each bra cup to the swimsuit with sewing pins. Use as few pins as possible to ensure you don't damage the swimsuit material.

6. Sew around the outside edge of each bra cup with your sewing machine.

7. Turn the swimsuit right side out and try it on. Do the bra up and adjust the straps so your bust is fully and comfortably supported.
