That quilt heirloom or the beautiful quilt you just completed needs to be on display in your home. A decorative way to display the quilt is over your sofa. To get the most out of the beauty and, in some case, the functionality of the quilt, displaying it on a piece of furniture takes some thought.

Find a spot on the floor and spread the quilt out so you can view it all at once. Look for any spots that you do not want to display, such as a stain or a mistake in the sewing. Also find a portion of the quilt that is eye-catching or perfect.

Fold the quilt in such a way that hides the abnormalities, stains or mistakes while showing the best part of the quilt. If these parts are on opposing halves of the quilt, you can fold it in half. You can also fold it into a triangle if needed.

Determine if you want to drape it over the arm or the back of the sofa. The size of the quilt folded along with the shape and size of the sofa play a role in making this determination. A larger quilt over a small sofa will not work on the arm of the piece of furniture.

Place the quilt over the portion of the sofa. Make sure that the portion of the quilt that you decided to highlight is on display and the portion that you want to hide cannot be seen.
