How to Make Pipe Cleaner Wands
When you have a child who enjoys pretending to be a fairy or magical princess, encourage this type of creative play by showing her how to make a fairy wand. Although premade wands may be more durable than a craft wand, they are also more costly. However, making a wand out of craft materials, such as pipe cleaners, will allow your child to play with a magical wand without costing you a lot of money in the process.
Things You'll Need
- Pipe cleaners, colored
- Scissors
- Wooden dowel, 1/4 inch thick, 12 inches long

1
Twist two pipe cleaners together at one end. Select any color pipe cleaners.

Curl one of the pipe cleaners into a shape, such as a star, spiral or heart. Twist the loose end of the shaped pipe cleaner onto itself to hold the shape securely.
-
-
3
Cut another pipe cleaner in half using scissors.
-
4
Twist the cut pipe cleaners around the shaped end of the wand, forming them into spirals. Allow the loose ends of the cut pipe cleaners to stick up.

5
Twist the long end of the pipe cleaner wand around a wooden dowel. This will be the handle of the wand.
-
6
Spray the shaped end of the pipe cleaner wand with spray adhesive.

7
Sprinkle glitter over the entire sprayed end of the wand. Allow the spray adhesive to dry for 20 minutes, then shake off the excess glitter.
