How to Do Face Painting Like a Puppet
Marionettes have the most distinctive facial features in the world of puppetry. Marionettes are puppets that are controlled by strings that attach to the various parts of their body. Some marionettes even have working mouths, meant to open and close as the puppet speaks. Because the entire jaw opens on these puppets, there appears to be a line from each corner of the mouth down to the bottom of the face. These two lines are what make marionettes so recognizable, and what will ultimately make the marionette face easy to paint on a human face.

Tips & Warnings
Your marionette outfit isn't complete just because you've painted your face. Marionettes don't come in specific outfits, so you can pick whatever clothes you like for your costume. However, your costume will be most impressive if you can attach strings to your arms and legs, and if you can find a partner who will "operate" the strings for you. The strings should be attached to two wooden sticks, crossed and attached in the middle.
If you have sensitive skin, use hypoallergenic face paints. When you wipe the paintbrush on the paper towel, it should not leave streaks or paint marks otherwise it is not clean. Don't leave paint on your paintbrush when you are finished.
