How to Make Dress Up Clothes for Toddlers
Dress up clothes don't need to be only for Halloween and costume parties. Providing toddlers with a box of dress up clothes means that they can play at any time with friends and siblings. Having a variety of clothes allows children to mix and match different items and experiment with their own creativity. Costumes can range from the very simple to more elaborate, depending on the occasion and on the skills of the maker.

1
Turn a white dress into an angel costume by adding some store bought wings. Twist a length of tinsel into a ring at the size of your toddler's head to form a halo.

2
Cut the legs of some old black pants into a raggedy shape for a pirate costume. Using either a striped or white T-shirt, draw a skull and cross bones in black marker pen. Cut a piece of cardboard into the shape of a sword and wrap the cardboard in kitchen foil.

Create a dalmatian costume using a white T-shirt and leggings. Fill a pair of white stockings with newspaper and sew to the base of the pants. Cut out a number of dots in black felt and sew or glue all across the costume. Cut two ear shapes out of the felt and sew to a hair band.

4
Use any brightly-colored clothes and a wig to make clown clothes. Add a big bow tie, and suspenders on the pants. Stuff a large pair of shoes with newspaper to make oversized feet.

5
Make a caterpillar costume using a green T-shirt and leggings. Twist two green pipe cleaners around a hair band to form antennas. Stuff a number of green stockings with newspaper and sew them to the body for the caterpillar legs.

6
Take a white dress or nightgown and transform it into a bride's dress. Attach some old lace or white netting to a hair band to form a veil. Complete the look with a bunch of plastic flowers.

7
Make a ghost outfit by draping an old white sheet over your toddler and cuttin out holes for eyes and arms. Draw details on the ghost costume with marker pens, fabric paint and lipstick, and attach patches or any other features as you wish.

Find a baggy, flannel shirt and large pants to dress your toddler as a scarecrow. Tie rope around the cuffs, waist and ankles of the costume. Sew or glue bits of straw to all of the clothes and to an old straw or felt hat.
