How to Make a Polka Dot Centerpiece

Creating a party theme involves coming up with an idea and using that style for decorating throughout the event and venue. A polka dot theme is whimsical and fun, with plenty of decorating options available -- from polka dot cakes to polka dot wall hangings. You can keep the theme going by crafting centerpieces based on polka dots for tables at the party as well.

Things You'll Need

• Vase or planter
• Paint or stickers
• Long-stemmed lollipops
• Craft foam
• Ribbon
• Scissors
• Construction paper

Instructions

1. Fill clear glass vases with an assortment of jelly beans to represent polka dots. An alternative way to incorporate polka dots into the base container portion of the centerpiece is to use a solid white vase or planter. Paint polka dots all over the outside of the container or use circle stickers to create a polka-dotted holder.

2. Insert long-stemmed, single-color lollipops directly into the jelly beans to create a polka dot display that rises out of the jelly beans. If you are using the painted pot option, place craft foam in the base of the container to hold the lollipop stems.

3. Add a polka dot printed ribbon to the outside of the centerpiece container. Tie the ribbon into a bow in the front of the container.

4. Scatter construction-paper polka dots on the table all around the centerpiece. Make the polka dots by cutting circles out of paper that matches the colors used in the centerpiece.

• Gather supplies before assembling your centerpiece to make sure the chosen colors match well together.

• Consider using plastic containers if decorating for a kids party to avoid broken vases or containers as children pull the lollipops out of the centerpiece.
