How to Associate a BAT With Java JRE

BAT files are called batch files and are used to write scripts in Windows that will perform specific actions, such as perform calculations or open software programs. The default setup on Windows has BAT files opened by the Windows command prompt, but if you want, you can change it so that the Java JRE software opens BAT files when they are double-clicked instead of the Windows command prompt.

Instructions

    • 1

Right-click on a BAT file on your computer.

    • 2

      Click "Open with."

    • 3

Click "Choose default program ... "

    • 4

Click "Browse" and select your Java JRE program.

    • 5

Ensure "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" box is checked, then click "OK" to associate BAT files with Java JRE.
