How to Knit a Single Stitch
Whether you call it loom knitting, spool knitting or French knitting, creating knitted pieces on a knitting loom or spool is quick and uncomplicated. The single stitch is the loom equivalent of a knit stitch in hand knitting. Master this basic stitch to use when you work knitted fabric on a loom or spool.

1
Make a slip knot about 3 inches from the end of the yarn and place the knot over one of the pegs on the knitting loom. Tighten it slightly so that it doesn't slip around on the peg.
-
2
Wrap the yarn from the ball, called the working yarn, counter-clockwise once around the peg, to the left of the first peg and around each of the remaining pegs on the loom.

-
3
Wrap the working yarn once around the next peg on the loom, above the loop that is already on the peg. This is called e-wrapping because the loop looks like a lowercase "e" when you view it from above.
-
4
Slide the knitting tool or crochet hook through the bottom loop from the top down. Pull the hook back up, catching the lower loop and lifting it over the top loop and off the peg.
-
5
Repeat the stitch for each of the remaining pegs of the loom; continue working in this manner until your piece is the desired length.
