Turn your old wine bottles into wedding centerpieces.

Wine bottles can be recycled as fairly inexpensive wedding centerpiece crafts. Using wine bottles allows you to create elegant or simple centerpieces that complement the mood and style of your wedding. You can use a wine theme for your wedding or add colors and decorations that complement other details from your wedding. Use clear or colored wine bottles or a combination of both, depending on the look you're trying to achieve. Different sizes, shapes and colors can add interest and depth to your wine bottle centerpieces.

Instructions

    • 1

Peel the label off the bottles and clean them thoroughly with soapy water. Craft knives can be used on stubborn labels, though sharp objects should be avoided if possible to prevent scratches on the glass or accidental cuts.

    • 2

Fill the bottle with something that complements your wedding. Grapevines, leaves, ivy or a single long-stemmed flower are simple ideas that work for most weddings. Fill the bottles with colored water and submersible lights for something more dramatic. Alternatively, use shiny faux jewels and rhinestones. Rocks, pebbles, sand and seashells are good for outdoor or beach-themed weddings. Colored sand in the wedding colors is another option. Tall taper candles can fit inside the bottles with sand, pebbles or beads anchoring the candle.

    • 3

Decorate the outside of the wine bottles with a ribbon or drape pearls around the bottle. Arrange flowers or hanging ivy or grapevines around the bottle to look natural. Alternatively, glue labels or pictures to the bottles, such as a thin copy of the wedding invitation or the couple's engagement photo and wedding date.

    • 4

Place votive candles, silk flower petals, confetti, rhinestones, bunches of grapes or other small items around the wine bottles on the table. Use three wine bottles per centerpiece. Or use one wine bottle surrounded by wine glasses with votives or floating candles in them.

Tips & Warnings

  • The wine bottles can be given to guests after the reception if you don't want to take them all home.
