How to Keep Patina From Rubbing on Clothing
Clothing stains are embarrassing and hard to remove. Patina jewelry rubs off on light-colored clothing, especially when necklaces or bracelets rest against shirts or blouses. Patina, a greenish-colored metal that oxidation causes, is highly valued because of its antique status. Avoiding the embarrassing stains that patina metal causes is possible. Buff the patina with a jewelry polishing cloth. Use a clean area on the cloth that hasn't been used previously.

Rinse the patina with a mild detergent and water. Use a liquid detergent. Avoid using powdered cleaning agents, because they can scratch the metal.

Coat the patina with a clear lacquer spray. Apply two coats and allow it to dry.
