How to Stop Avira Free-Ad Pop-ups

Avira is an antivirus solution that actively protects your computer from malware attacks. If you get the free edition of this application, you will get regular pop-up windows notifying you to upgrade to the paid version. You can disable these pop-up windows by restricting the process that Avira uses to display these pop-ups.

      Click the circular "Start" button, type "Group Policy" (without quotes) and press "Enter."

      Double-click the "Administrative Templates" option under the "User Configuration" section.

      Click the option labeled "System."

      Right-click the option labeled "Don't Run Specified Windows Applications" on the right-side of the Group Policy Editor window. Next, select "Edit."

      Click the radio button next to "Enabled."

      Click the button labeled "Show."

      Type "avnotify.exe" into the vacant field under "Value" and click "OK."

      Click "Apply" to disable Avira pop-ups.
