How to Get a Conceal Carry Permit in Florida
Obtaining a Florida conceal carry permit is a relatively simple thing to do. There are a couple of reasons for applying for a conceal carry permit in the state of Florida. You may want the permit to carry a handgun for self defense or simply because you have the legal right to carry a concealed weapon.

Obtain an application packet from the FDACS. This packet will have a copy of chapter 790 of the Florida statutes, a fingerprint card, and a return envelope. Make sure all of these things are in the packet before you start.

Florida law says that you must read and understand chapter 790 as it pertains to what you will need to know about the state laws on firearms.

You must complete a certified weapons course and provide proof of completion of the course with the application, such as a notarized copy from the organization with whom you took the course.

Take you fingerprint card to a local law enforcement office to get fingerprinted. This can include the city police department or Sheriff's office.

Make sure to have a passport photograph taken and include it with your other documentation that you will be mailing in.

Get your application notarized and obtain a cashier's check, certified check, or money order made out the Florida Department of State. This fee is non refundable regardless of whether or not you receive a conceal carry permit. Keep the pink copy for your records and mail it in.

Tips & Warnings
If you were honorably discharged from the military you will need your DD-214 document to obtain the conceal carry permit.
You need to be at least 21 years old as well as a resident of the United States to obtain a conceal carry permit.
You will have to allow at least 90 days for your application to be processed.
Your conceal carry permit will be good for 5 years from the date it was issued.
If you are a convicted felon, then the state of Florida must reinstate your rights to possess a firearm, and you will need to contact the state to find out how to accomplish this.
Remember carrying a concealed weapon is a privilege as well as a right, and if you break the law while in possession of a weapon, you will go to jail.
