How to Buff Fine Scratches

Smaller scratches are not difficult to remove.

Small scratches in your car can be frustrating, especially if your car is new. Small scratches are not terribly difficult to buff out, though. All you need is standard car-washing equipment, car polish and patience.

Things You'll Need

• Water
• Soap
• Large clean towel
• Small clean towel

Instructions

1. Wash your car to remove any dirt.

2. Dry your car completely with a large towel.

3. Place car polish on the small towel.

4. Move towel in circular motions on the scratch. Continue until scratch fades away.

5. Wipe away any excess polish that may remain on your car.

Tips & Warnings

• It is best to polish your car in the late afternoon or early evening when the temperature outside becomes more moderate.

• You may have to polish out a scratch for several minutes. Be patient, as the deepness or size of the scratch will change the amount of time you need to polish the scratch.

• Do not leave polish on your car, as direct sunlight and heat can cause the polish to eat away at the car paint.
