Make sure your teenage child knows that you are not having the discussion to be judgmental or make demands on them, but rather to inform them about different aspects of sex and relationships.

Most teens think they know everything, that you don't understand what being a teen of their generation means, and are convinced parents just want to lecture them. Remind your teen that although society may change, teenage issues have not changed and sex has not changed either. Let your teen know that you just want to make sure they have the information they need to make informed choices.

4
Explain to your teen that there are different types of emotional and sexual attraction. Talk to them about infatuation, which teens often believe is 'love at first sight' rather than an immediate hormonal and biological attraction to a member of the same or opposite sex.
-
5
Help your teen understand that they can think and feel that another teen of the same sex is attractive in a sensual way, but that does not mean they have homosexual tendencies.
