How to Make Paper Fedoras
The classic fedora hat has been around since the late 19th century. While it was popularized by gangsters and Hollywood stars, the fedora has also been a favorite look for everyday businessmen. The hat typically hosts a rounded brim at the front and is usually encompassed by a band or ribbon. The top of the hat is slightly puffed. Design your own fedora hat by creating these recognizable features out of a simple piece of paper.

1
Select a large sheet of construction paper, measuring at least 8.5 by 11 inches. Fold the sheet in half lengthwise, but leave 1 inch of paper between the edge of the paper and the top of your fold.
-
2
Fold the top left corner down until it reaches the center of your paper. Crease the fold so that it makes a triangle-shaped wedge. Repeat the process with the right-hand corner. When you are finished the folds should lie next to each other, meeting at the center of the paper. Two inches should remain between the folds and the bottom edge of the paper.

Create the brim of the hat by folding in the paper edge below the triangles. Fold the remaining paper below this brim backward in order to form a brim on the other side of the hat. This half may need to be trimmed down to size so that it matches the length of the other half.

Put the finishing touches on your paper fedora by fluffing out the inside of the hat using your fingers. Once you have formed a puffy circle, glue down the brims around the circumference of the circle. Let the glue dry and don your new fedora with style.
