How to Decorate a Hat for Halloween
Halloween is a time for ghosts and ghouls, but it can also be a time for fun arts and crafts projects. A hat decorated for Halloween can be a simple addition to an outfit for a Halloween party, or a fun craft activity with children. Select a funky hat or a simple baseball hat to decorate, but be sure to select Halloween-themed colors like black, orange, green or white. The color you choose should complement the design you plan for your hat. For example a monster-themed hat should be black or green.

1
Draw a design for your hat, based on the hat you have selected and the spooky look you want. If you are doing this craft with children, have them draw their hats first and then add to it with decorations. Some ideas include a spider on a white hat, a bat on a black hat or a jack o' lantern on an orange hat.

2
Draw the shapes you'll need to create the design you want on the felt. Size them proportionally to the hat and cut the shapes out.

3
Arrange the shapes on the hat to make the design you like. If you are unhappy with any of the shapes, trim them down or start fresh with new felt.
-
4
Glue the shapes down using a hot glue gun. Embellish the hat with fabric puff paint. For example, paint a spider web after creating a felt spider for your hat. Allow to dry thoroughly before wearing.

Tips & Warnings
You can add bat wings to the side of a hat. Just add thin wires to the underside of the wings to support them.
Do not let children use hot glue guns while unattended.
