How to Troubleshoot Joins in ArcGIS
ArcGIS is a geographic information system (or GIS) software application. It is a tool for working with and creating geographical data. This data is organized into tables that are displayed on maps. The tables are connected using "joins." Users join tables for the purpose of symbolizing data on a map, such as population size and spending habits. Join errors result in problems such as incorrect record counts or displaying null values appearing in the attribute tables. ArcGIS 10 includes a “Validate Join” feature that analyzes and corrects common join errors.
