How to Crochet a Wire & Bead Cuff
Cuffs are wide bracelets named for the cuff at the bottom of a shirt sleeve. Bracelet cuffs are often made of leather or fabric to make a more structured piece, but you can create one using a thin-gauged wire and beads. Crocheting the wire makes the bracelet wide, while stringing the wire with beads adds sparkle and texture. This technique uses simple crocheting methods, but you do not need to be familiar with crocheting.

1
Unwind a little wire from the spool and string an assortment of beads onto it. Do not cut the wire from the spool. Use more beads for a more heavily beaded bracelet and less for a sparse one. The string of beads should not be longer than halfway around your wrist. Push the beads down the wire so there is 7 inches of wire free at the beginning of the strand.

2
Loop the free wire around a size G crochet hook 6 inches from the end. While holding the end of the wire with one hand, loop the spool side around the hook and pull it through the first loop to create a slip knot. Pull the knot tight. Add four chain stitches by looping the spool wire around the hook and pulling it through the previous stitch. Leave the wire loose so there are four connected loops.

3
Push a single bead toward the chain stitches. Loop the wire on the other side of the bead around your hook and pull it through the previous loop. Repeat until all the beads are crocheted into the wire.

4
Crochet four chain stitches at the end of the beads, remove the crochet hook and cut the wire with wire clippers, leaving a 6-inch tail. Place the strand to the side and make three more strands in the same manner.
-
5
Hold the four strands at one end and twist the ends of the wire together.
-
6
Spread the four strands out and loosely braid them together. Place the first strand on the right and place it over the second, under the third and over the fourth. Now take the new first strand on the right and place it over the second, under the third and over the fourth. Continue until you reach the end of the crocheted wire.
-
7
Twist the extra 6 inches of wires at the end together to hold the braid in place.
-
8
Thread the end of one side of the bracelet through the loop of a jewelry fastener. Use small jewelry pliers to form a loop with the wire and wind the wire around itself to hold the fastener in place. Cut the excess wire with wire clippers. Repeat on the other end of the bracelet.
