If you are musically inclined, you may want to add musical symbols to certain text documents. At first glance, you won't see any musical signs on a standard computer keyboard. However, you can create musical symbols through a combination of specific keystrokes. The notes that you can create are an eighth note and a set of connected eighth notes. Eighth notes are common rhythmic musical notations.

Instructions

      Click on the space on a document or Web page into which you wish to insert the symbol.

      Press "Num Lock" on your computer's numerical keyboard to turn on the number lock function.

      Press the "Alt" key on either side of the space bar and hold down the button.

      Type the number "1" and the number "3" while continuing to press "Alt" in order to create a single eighth note.

    • 5

      Hold down "Alt" and type the number "1" followed by the number "4" to create a set of connected eighth notes.
