How to Make a Cloth Pencil Case Without Sewing
Pencil cases are easy to toss in a backpack and can hold everything from pens and pencils to stickers and money. Homemade fabric pencil cases of various sizes can be created using any type of fabric, and no sewing knowledge is necessary to make them. Instead of sewing your pencil case together, use fabric glue, which can be just as strong as the thread.

1
Select fabric either in a solid color or pattern. Cut the fabric into a rectangle that is 10-inches by 20-inches.
-
2
Place your piece of fabric with the design face down on your workspace. Apply the glue approximately one-half inch from the edge along the two sides of the fabric. Run glue 17 inches up from the bottom on both sides, leaving the top 3 inches glue-free, which will be your opening and flap for the pencil case. Fold the bottom of the fabric up to where the glue begins and press firmly into place.

3
Let fabric glue completely dry overnight. Flip the fabric inside-out so the pattern is now on the outside of the pencil case and the seams are on the inside.
-
4
Attach the rough piece of Velcro to each corner of the 3-inch flap. Fold flap down, securing each piece of Velcro on the fabric.
-
5
Glue ribbon to the edges of the flap. If desired, add other embellishments, such as gems, glitter and patches.
