DIY Wedding Flower Ball for the Bridesmaid
If you're looking for something a little different for your bridesmaid to carry down the aisle, use a ball covered in flowers, often called a pomander. A pomander can hang from her wrist on a ribbon or be carried in her hands. Place it on the top of a wide-mouth vase at the reception so it can serve double duty as a centerpiece.
Instructions

1
Soak your floral foam ball in water until it's soaked through, usually about an hour.
-
2
Tie a loop of ribbon around the netting surrounding the ball. Press the ends into the foam using a 2-inch wired floral pick and wrap the attached wire around the ribbon securely. The ribbon must be strong enough to hold the heavy, water-soaked ball of foam.

3
Cut the blooms off the flower stems, leaving at least an inch of stem attached. Choose wide, flat flowers such as daisies or cushion mums for the best coverage, although you can use any flower with a sturdy stem.
-
4
Push the flowers into the foam ball. Press gently but firmly until the bloom touches the ball. Have a helper hold the ball while you add flowers or place it on top of a wide-mouth vase to hold it steady. Overlap the flower petals slightly to hide the foam. Vary your design so the flowers don't end up in a straight line. Continue until the ball is completely covered.

Add greenery, beaded or additional ribbon to embellish the ball. Press the stems or wires at least an inch into the foam.

Tips & Warnings
Follow the same procedure with silk flowers, but use a dry Styrofoam ball instead of the wet floral foam.
